It seems dark brown hair with caramel highlights is everywhere these days and there’s a reason for that. When it works, it works beautifully. It’s a great look but it’s not a look everyone can pull off. There are a lot of celebrities who rock this look including Eva Longoria, Kate Beckinsale and Miley Cyrus but it’s important to remember that these celebrities work with stylists that can help them choose the look that is right for them. That’s not a luxury many of you can have so let’s take a look at how you can decide for yourself whether or not dark brown hair with caramel highlights will work on you.
Consider your skin tone.
Your skin tone and your eye color often go hand in hand so we’ll talk about both of these things under the same heading. If you have blue, green or gray eyes, you probably have fair skin. That means this look might not be right for you. Dark hair on fair skin can sometimes make skin appear even more pale or can make it look washed out. That’s something you definitely want to avoid. This isn’t always true though. If your hair is naturally dark or you’ve tried dark colors before and liked the result, you can still give this look a try.
Eva Longoria is a great example of a woman this look was made for. In the photo above, you can see the dark brown hair with caramel highlights Eva is rocking is perfectly suited to her skin tone and to her hair color. This look works so well for Eva because she has a darker skin tone, dark eyes and of course, naturally dark hair. Those things combine to really made her the ideal candidate for making this look work. With that said, even women with fairer skin like Kate Beckinsale can make this look work as well. In the end, your skin tone and your eye color should really just be used as a guide. Not all women with darker skin tones will be able to pull of this look and not all women with lighter skin tones should avoid it. There are almost always exceptions to every rule and it’s important to keep that in mind.
